Given that 11 million South Africans who go hungry every day malnutrition is a serious problem in South Africa and is one of the biggest contributors to childhood illness and death. It is estimated that about 30% of South African children are stunted from a lack of adequate nutrition in the early years of their lives. This is caused by Inadequate food intake, illness and psychosocial stress such as that caused by extreme poverty.
